Land Rights Education in Mannar

An
awareness program related to women land and tenure rights was conducted at the
office of Mannar District Fisheries Solidarity on 13 of July 2020. The
awareness program was facilitated by Praja Abilasha Network of National
Fisheries Solidarity Movement. It has educated women about the land rights of
women, tenure rights of the women and right to life in the awareness program.
It highlighted the issues that the women face in relation to the land rights in
the usual life. The resource person explained the existing land law considering
the issues of the women. It has especially concerned the land issues of the
Mannar district. Mr. A. Arjun, Attorney at Law participated as the resource
person in the awareness program. Around 15 women participated in the program.
Mr. Benedit Croos, district coordinator and Mrs. Marry Priyantha, Animator of
Mannar District Fisheries Solidarity participated in the education program.
