The Uva Province People’s forum for Land Rights, at Monaragala,On 8th August 2022: ඌව පළාත් ඉඩම් අයිතිය සඳහා වූ ජනතා එකතුව, 2022අගෝස්තු 8 වන දින

The  Uva Province People’s
forum for Land Rights was held on August 8 at Monaragala. About thirty people from Badulla and Monaragala Districts
participated and an update of information related to land issues in each area
was done first. Ms. Ravindra Sumathipala, a lawyer then explained to the
participants on the Land Development Ordinance in the year 2022 which consists
of 11 new amendments. Sajeeva Chamikara gave a then presented about the land disputes
and environmental damage caused by the ongoing development activities across
the country. After that, the handbook prepared for winning the land struggles
was also launched. Miss Pemalatha of Uva Wellassa Women’s Organization and Mr.
Vajira of Community Organizing Forum organized the event.
