Women play major role in NAFSO movement & always
in the forefront of the struggles. Also, their contribution is not recognized
and visible as they are silent but productive actors in the fisheries sector.

NAFSO
work with women headed households forming the Women Federations in all the
districts which lead to form national Women federation of NAFSO. As a part of
economic empowerment, NAFSO is planning to support most
vulnerable group of women in 5 districts through the support of Leger
Foundation of Canada.
Launching the women economic empowerment program supported by
Leger, Lavina Hasanthi,
women Coordinator of NAFSO said, “after several years we are ready to support
some oppressed women in 5 districts as a beginning. We do hope we can continue
this through Leger support for coming years with the success implementation of
this program.
